Oulton Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

“We stayed here for our anniversary. It’s a beautiful hotel with loads of potential but sadly the customer service and organization lets it down. The room was ok-clean but poor view of the top of a roof and bathrooms are small and very basic- nothing luxurious about them despite it being a deluxe double room. We had paid for a package which should have included Prosecco on arrival in our room. We rang to point out this wasn’t there and were told it would be brought up – it never arrived. The restaurant was fine on the Friday evening and our food was lovely. However on the Saturday night it was a different experience.

Waterston Park Hotel

“I met a friend forum the Midlands here, for a bite to eat in Charlie’s Bar and a good catch-up. Lovely waitress, lots of smiles, and a decent lunch menu. We both opted for the chicken Caesar salad (choice of small portion if preferred), which had lovely, fresh salad and was very tasty. I had a glass of white wine, my friend a red. The waitress quickly realized she had brought the wrong red and, even though my friend was happy to stick with it, she insisted she would take it off the bill. That’s what I call proper customer care. Charlie’s is lovely and relaxed, a nice place to chill with friends.”

Owston Hall Hotel

“They entrance and lounge are stunning and are well maintained, as it the lovely restaurant, however the rooms are on the whole clean and functional but lack attention to detail (lots of dust in places that could be seen without looking; headboard light fittings etc) and also feel a bit dull and empty. We also had a clicking noise coming from the bathroom which we could not place; a minor irritation. The spa is a little underwhelming, it is quite small but it wasn’t very busy so this wasn’t an issue. The Jacuzzi was Luke warm as was the steam room but the sauna was nice.

Castleford (Xscape, M62 J32)

“Stayed in this hotel twice in the last couple of weeks. Both times in the Premier Plus rooms. What they are of a better standard in this particular hotel they lack the fundamentals of peace and quiet. The windows in the hotel are old, draughty and very noisy resulting in you getting either the noise of the trains at the rear of the hotel or the boy racers in the car park over the road into the early hours. Tried mentioning this the last time but no-one seemed to be interested. Once you’ve paid your money it’s kind of tough luck. I had a much larger room at the front of the hotel last time compared to this one today. It also had a large comfy bed.

Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel, BW Signature Collection

“We stayed here from 18-23rd October. It was our first hotel stay since the pandemic and naturally was a bit worried. When we checked in we upgraded our room for a small fee to the hideaway suite – it was lovely. It’s not attached to the hotel but less than a minutes’ walk from Main building. Huge space and upstairs was the bathroom with a freestanding bath and lovely walk in shower. TV also to watch whilst in bath. Downstairs was spacious living room area with TV and bedroom with another TV screen.

Best Western Plus Pastures Hotel

“We were wanting a short break away from the daily routine, but not too far away from home so we chose this hotel as we could go for local walks along the river and surrounding areas without having to be in highly populated places, due to the Coved threat. The hotel is clean and welcoming from the outside, with a large car park. Next door to another place with restaurant and kids outdoor activity area, pastures lodge. On arrival our check in was swift and efficient and we were asked to fill in a sheet with our breakfast requirements again a covid-19 requirement.

Holiday Inn Leeds Garforth, an Ihg Hotel

The hotel is in a great location for Leeds and the M1. The room was clean and comfortable with a good sized bed. The bathroom was also clean with a good sized shower. I didn’t use the pool or gym facilities so can’t comment on those. The breakfast buffet was really good with lots of choice.
